The SIF recognises their partners as local experts and respects their decisions on the projects to be realised in their regions.
Steering Committee
The SIF Steering Committee is a body of five members:
- Prof. Dr. Marina Fischer-Kowalski
Chairperson of the Steering Committee and
Representative of the Institute of Social Ecology, University of Klagenfurt - André Heller
Representative of Universal Music, "Austria for Asia" - Mag. Friedrich Altenburg
Representative of Caritas Austria
Head of the International Project Department - Univ. Doz. Mag. Dr. Christine Jasch
Institute for Environmental Management and Economics (IÖW),
Accountant and Sustainability Verifier - Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Lutz
International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) and
Vienna Institute of Demography of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW)
The Steering Committee has certain functions, namely:
- Decision on a yearly budget of the SIF Fund
- Decision concerning the allocation of funds to the various indigenous partner organisations realising the projects
- Organise scientific and technical support to indigenous organisations upon request
- Asking for evaluation of the projects
- Communicating to the donor organisations as well as individuals on the use of the SIF Fund
The Steering Committee is supported by a Project Manager for the operative management of the SIF Fund and the preparation of relevant information for decision-making.
The Steering Committee meets four times a year to review ongoing projects and to take decisions on matters relating to their function. Decisions are taken by a simple majority.
